Kitchen Reno Update

For most of this past week we haven't been too busy on the house. It was at the drywall, mudding, taping and texturing the ceilings stage so there wasn't much for us to do.
Speaking of the dry waller...Look what he did!

So he didn't do it on purpose (I HOPE!)....but I was still very unimpressed when I saw this.

Everyone who entered our house got the, "You hurt my wallpaper and I. WILL. HURT. YOU!" speech....except Mr. Drywaller. I guess, he's lucky he didn't get the speech or else I'd have to hurt him!

I had two options.

1. Glue it back up
or
2. Take it down and reinvent that wall.

Well, number 2 won out and I took it down. As much as I wanted to throttle the dry waller at the time, now I'm okay with it. I have some gorgeous fabric that has been sitting in my closet for a few years now just waiting for her moment to arise and take a place in this house. She clashed with the wallpaper but now I can use her to redo the ugly green chair. Plus, I kept the paper for future projects. WIN - WIN!

Now that the dry waller is finished ruining my wallpaper texturing the ceilings, we were able to start painting.

Let the CRAZY BEGIN!

Jason was a getting a little too crazy, so I sent him to where are the bad boys go...the ATTIC. This is how he got his one piece of bread and a cup of water for the day.

Okay, maybe he was just busy venting out the hood vent and needed a tool. Totally creepy and fun at the same time!

Flipping the picture makes it even creepier looking!
Oooo...floating hand!

As you can tell we did a lot of painting. The grey-green and yellow walls are gone and have been replaced by Behr's Dolphin Penis Fin. (Sorry Jase, I just couldn't resist. That's what we call it in secret when we feel like giggling like 2 year olds...but I guess it's not a secret anymore.) It's what we painted the front entryway.

WE LOVE IT!

It's a real grey's-grey that is soft and cool all at the same time.

We've also had to paint the ceilings because we had some yellowish colouring coming through. (NOT COOL!) Cutting in and painting ceilings is the WORST!! My arms are so sore now but I guess this is coming from the girl who can hardly butterfly a 3 lb weight.

Then we spent a large chunk of the day working on this! More to come on this later!

While we've been busy, my mom has been awesome with keeping the kids by her so we can focus on the task at hand.
The kids have loved it, especially Benj!

My mom has gotten that boy to do things that I have only hoped for. He is now taking water from a straw cup (He's weaned to only nursing twice a day which is sad for me), he is rolling all over the place, playing on his tummy, reaching for things and then getting those things, sitting himself up from laying down, eating more food and sleeping better. He is going to be such a stinker!

He is growing up way too fast and I still don't think I'm ready for it!

Is it bad that when he tries to cruise the furniture I want to push him over and tell him to stay a baby?

I just want him to stay little and love and cuddle with me forever. This baby/kid stage is going way too fast!

Hopefully by the end of the week I can update you with some pictures of cabinets! Wouldn't that be swell!

Enjoy this beautiful weather friends and family! I busted out the sandals today and it was GLORIOUS!

Love,
Kat

  1. Oh wow! Lots going on. That pallet wall looks great. The hand out of the ceiling is too funny. We had a similar experience at our previous house, but my husband's foot/leg actually did come through our ceiling when he was running some wires. I didn't get a picture because I was freaking out too much. :) I'm glad you're having fun with your reno.

    1. I would probably be freaking out too if his foot went through the ceiling....which would turn into being annoyed that he wrecked the ceiling. haha ;)
